The purpose of District Honor Chorus is to provide GMEA District V Choral students (grades 4-12) an opportunity to rehearse and perform with a large group of singers who have demonstrated advanced skills in the areas of singing and musicianship and to work with a renowned conductor. Each high school is allowed to send four SATB quartets. Schools are also allowed to list several alternates who will be notified if they are invited to attend.
The District V Honor Chorus Event will take place on October 25-26, 2019. The location is Johns Creek United Methodist Church.
The school will provide transportation on Friday, October 25. The school will not be responsible for their child’s transportation on Saturday, October 26.
The school will provide lunch both days. I will take lunch orders prior to the event.
Rehearsals will be all day Friday, beginning at 8:30am and ending at 7:00pm. Saturday rehearsal will begin at 10:00am. The concert will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm.
In order to attend the event, students must audition for Mr. Godinez. Students must bring the audition form signed by a parent to the audition. Auditions will be held in the chorus room after school on Tuesday, September 3rd. Please contact me if you cannot make this time. For the audition, students will sing their part on a song we are working on in class. Audition results will be posted that afternoon online on this site.
