DJ Godinez is thrilled to serve as the Choral Director at Johns Creek High School. He holds a Masters in Music Education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from James Madison University. Prior to coming to Johns Creek, he taught middle and high school choir in North Carolina and Virginia.
Mr. Godinez has served as a guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and organizer for honor choirs at the county, district, and state level in the southeastern United States. In the summer of 2018, he was selected as a Conducting Fellow at the Atlanta Summer Conducting Institute. Most recently, he has served as the Youth Choir Director and Tenor Section Leader at the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. Mr. Godinez is an arranger for his alma mater's all male a cappella group, The Madison Project, and for school choirs in Northern Virginia. While at Woodbridge Senior High School, his choirs performed on the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage (2016) and Concert Hall (2015).
Mr. Godinez is a fan of the Washington Nationals and Capitals, and lives in Stone Mountain with his husband, Bryan, and their 2 dogs, Moxie and Dunkin.
